Chipotle, known for its ‘no compromises’ attitude toward its produce and products, enlisted Fahrenheit 212 to translate this ethos into its next-generation store design. The goal was to create a modern in-store experience that seamlessly integrated with the growing digital order process while staying true to Chipotle's mission of cultivating a better world.

OUR DESIGN STRATEGY
Building on Chipotle's history of eliminating compromises across various business systems, we identified additional areas where compromises existed in their store approach. Our strategy and design approach aimed to eradicate these compromises.
SUSTAINABILITY FIRST
Working with sustainable materials and fabrication techniques, we enhanced the existing design language and incorporated vital features to improve efficiency and convenience for both customers and employees. Collaborating closely with Chipotle's design team, we tackled aspects like digital ordering, walk-up windows, and strategically placed digital pick-up portals to optimize the food retrieval process.
TRANSPARENCY IN RESTAURANT DESIGN
Transparency was an essential aspect of our designs, mirroring Chipotle's commitment. Open views and visible kitchen areas allowed customers to witness the preparation of fresh, natural ingredients by the skilled crew members. This design choice aimed to foster communication and a sense of community within the restaurant spaces. Five new restaurants implemented these designs in early 2020, resulting in successful openings.
“While we are staying true to Chipotle's heritage, we are also excited to integrate new, innovative physical features into the restaurant that complement our growing digital business."
— Tabassum Zalotrawala, Chief Development Officer of Chipotle.
